The 8th of March always marks an auspicious date to us.
It’s first and foremost, International Women’s Day and also the date we launched our first collection online 4 years ago!
This year, the IWD theme is #ChoosetoChallenge.
We are thankful that we live in a world today where we have the choice to challenge. And from that challenge, we all can work hand in hand to bring about change.
Here are 6 women we are highlighting this IWD who are challenging to bring about change in their own inspirational ways.
#1 Jenifer - Founder of @karmayoga.my
As women, we are all smart, strong, calm, and collected. Above all, we are full of grace, fearless and we will challenge anyone who says otherwise.
This year I #choosetochallenge us all to be responsible to keep our communities safe through the pandemic. Covid-19 has brought a new norm towards our daily lives and as women standing at the front lines of the crisis, as health care workers, caregivers, innovators, small business owners, or wellness enthusiasts, and as some of the most exemplary and effective leaders in the community combating the pandemic. Together, but socially distant, we stand united to bring everyone up through these unprecedented times.
#2 Su Yin - Founder of @suyininvests
I #ChoosetoChallenge the financial stereotype that we should leave our money management to someone else because they’d be better at it.
I practice and get better each day at earning, saving and growing my own money. And I share my journey so more can feel empowered to take control and build on these skills.
#3 Natasha - Founder of @wearsoko
I #choosetochallenge gender stereotypes that distort the views of ourselves and others. I'm working on this by checking my biases and using gender neutral language.
#4 Alison - CEO of @curvesmalaysia
Everyday I #ChooseToChallenge my own mindset, feelings and responses to the environment around me. A life of an Entrepreneur is never smooth, but navigating a business through a pandemic, whilst pivoting new ideas and balancing responsibilities such as homeschooling and life in lockdown is a unique experience altogether!
Whilst I cannot control the factors around me, I can challenge myself to embrace change and find the opportunities that can arise from chaos. Leaning in on our community of friends, family and members, adopting a Growth Mindset and having Gratitude in the heart is how I #ChooseToChallenge!
#5 Becca - Founder & Owner of @libertyactive
I #ChoosetoChallenge body stereotypes amongst society. I constantly work on this by checking how I refer to a third person by not describing them using adjectives related to shape and size. I also showcase this through my homegrown label, Liberty Active. We have designed activewear pieces for women of all shapes, sizes and colour, and have shown body positivity, representation and diversity through our campaigns, advertorials and collaterals. We want women to feel strong, empowered and motivated in our gear and be reminded that fitness and fashion has no certain look.
#6 Elaine - Co-owner of @libertyactive
Being a petite girl, I am often expected to be soft-spoken, quiet, timid, submissive and many other feminine adjectives. When I do speak up, I am often met with snarky comments like “wow, you’re so
So tell us, what do you #ChoosetoChallenge?
